Last night, 6 poets, myself included, got to do a ekphrastic poetry reading to Penny McElroy’s collage art. Ekphrastic poetry is poetry written in response to art pieces. It was a great experience for all and an amazing creative exercise. Not only was Penny’s art multilayered and story-telling in itself, she allowed us all to write poems on her work without meeting most of us....

My fetus has a penis. I have no way of knowing where he’ll fall on the gender spectrum. While me and Hubz are cis-female and cis-male, we know that that is not how it is for some people or will necessarily be for our children. I wish more people were educated about that.
